Before we start though, I thought I would give a brief admission. Yesterday’s newsletter was a travesty! AI is part of my day to day life now. I use it for any number of tasks, and as part of that frequent usage came a little bit of complacency. Unfortunately, that complacency took the form of trusting the output of my trusty sidekick’s a little too much. And it turned out that the some synopses and links in content that were dispatched in the email version of this newsletter where… ahem.. a little bit… fake. For that I apologise! For those who did not receive the email, fear not! I updated the web version to include more up to date, relevant and accurate links. It is a little bit like the Wharton professor on NPR who suggested thinking of it as “an over-eager intern who sometimes lies to you.” 🤣

Consider my wrists slapped and lessons learned! Now, shall we never speak of it again?! 🫣

  • [Link] An AI revolution is coming to video games: Exciting news for gamers! Nvidia is set to change the game - literally - with its promise of introducing a new level of intelligence and interactivity to the world of video games through AI. Get ready to take on dragons and embark on immersive adventures like never before. Let's hope there's an AI cheat code for those particularly tricky levels!

  • [Link] NYC to Enforce new AI Recruitment law: Starting in July, companies using AI for recruitment in NYC will have to disclose its use to candidates and have yearly bias checks by independent auditors. So, no more sneaky surprises during the hiring process! Looks like robots really do need supervisors after all.

  • [Link] The Chips are Down!: In the world of AI, Nvidia is the leading producer of chips, but supply is failing to keep up with growing demand, leaving smaller AI startups struggling to find resources. Nvidia is trying to make more chips, and Intel is working on VPUs that can take some of the load off the CPUs and GPUs. The solution to the chip shortage is still TBD, but whoever can find it will be in a great position. Maybe we'll have to start using actual pans to make pancakes again!

Insights

  • [Link] AI’s Impact on the Workforce: The rise of AI has brought about significant transformation in the workforce as many businesses are now looking towards automating jobs. • [Link]Can Google Detect ChatGPT Content? Get ready to unravel Google's AI radar! In this article, we dive into the interesting topic of whether Google can detect ChatGPT content. We explore the challenges, mechanisms, and potential implications of content detection in the AI world. So, does Google have an eye on ChatGPT? Let's find out! Read on to satisfy your curiosity. Who knows, maybe Google is reading this summary right now...

  • [Link] How LLMs respond to learning: A study examined how AI language models respond to new information that contradicts their existing understanding. Researchers found that while the models are receptive to new information that is coherent and convincing, they are also prone to confirmation bias, meaning they tend to confirm their pre-existing "knowledge" if the new data contains any elements that agree with it. These findings are valuable for improving and applying augmented LLMs. Looks like even AI can have a stubborn streak!

Fear not, a repository has been created to help fine-tune open models using high-quality instructions for optimal coding. With this tuning, star coders and other models can outperform even GPT4. So get ready to level up your game engine skills! And remember, always double-check your code before unleashing your creation onto the world.

  • [Link] Tree of Thoughts: The Tree of Thoughts project is using large language models to help people overcome problems and find solutions. The AI system uses natural language processing to understand users' queries and provide relevant insights and suggestions. This approach provides an alternative to the traditional problem-solving methods. Plus, the project is still in its experimental phase and therefore has an exciting future ahead. Who knows, maybe soon, we'll all be turning to language models for our everyday problem-solving needs!
